Choices thrilled with awards success
27 October 2011
Choices Housing Association has been celebrating after winning
two awards in the last two weeks.
Choices provide care and support services to those with
disabilities and learning difficulties and are thrilled to have won
these awards. The first prestigious title they have claimed is that
of 'Adult Learner Employer of the Year/Commitment to skills' for
its work to deliver a new health and social care diploma to its
employees.
Choices won the award for ensuring that all learners who
complete their corporate induction programme have an ongoing
personal development plan, which encourages them to study for and
gain the new health and social care (NVQ Care) diploma. The
training team designs all learning to be transferred onto the
diploma programme, letting health and social care staff begin study
towards the diploma immediately. They were nominated by a colleague
at Stoke College, where the course is delivered.
On top of this fantastic win, five Choices employees were
winners at the Great British Care Home Awards in Birmingham last
weekend. Four of the team were presented with finalists trophies
while Suzi Chard, Choices Training Manager, was crowned overall
winner of 'The Care Trainer Award'. There were thousands of
nominations for each category so to have five employees in the
finals has made the company very proud. Suzi has also been
shortlisted for the Skills for Care National Accolade for 'Best
Provider of Learning and Development'.
Suzi said: "I'm thrilled to have been awarded this title, but
I'm equally as pleased for Choices and the fantastic staff here to
have been recognised with all these awards. It's a great place to
work and the fact that we have great employees is reflected in the
service we offer to our customers and service users."
