Partners exciting plans for new purpose built accommodation on derelict site
08 November 2011
A care home with a difference could be created in
Stoke-on-Trent, thanks to the new partnership between The Wrekin
Housing Trust and Choices Housing Association.

We became partners earlier this year, and have submitted a
planning application to provide state of the art accommodation and
a respite unit in Bucknall, Stoke-on-Trent.
The outcome of the application is expected in January 2012 and, if
given the go-ahead, the development for those with learning
disabilities will provide 16 units, eight of which will be
residential, with the remaining eight providing much needed respite
care facilities. The plans include communal facilities, spacious
en-suite bedrooms and a high quality 'hotel' feel.
The site proposed currently houses a former disused probation
office. Bringing the site back into use and contributing to the
local economy is great news for the local area, including the
creation of 20 jobs, with local residents applauding the
plans.
Jean Teichmann, Head of Development, said: "We're committed to
providing quality homes and services for people in Shropshire and
Staffordshire, and this would be a great addition to the area,
providing much-needed care and respite provision for local
people."
Nigel Downs, Choices Managing Director, said: "The development at
Cambrian Way will enable us to provide the opportunity to access
respite facilities for varying periods of time to suit the
individual and allows families and carers to have a break, as well
as providing permanent five star standard accommodation and
facilities for others."
